The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Research Initiative has provided $4.4 million to the National PRRS (porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome) Initiative coordinated by the National Pork Board.
“The funding will be important to support research into the development and uses of a variety of methods to stimulate immunity for protection from the disease,” says Eric Neumann, DVM, director of swine health information for the Pork Board.
The Pork Board has a Web site to provide a forum for the 11-state PRRS project at www.porkboard.org. Click on “PRRS Initiative” under the “Pork Production” menu.
