Insecticide Spray

Annihilator Insecticide Premise Spray from Boehringer Ingelheim controls insects in and around livestock facilities. A recent study showed it effectively controlled houseflies for more than two months after application. Users need only to spray twice for a virtually insect-free summer, whether controlling insects in barns or around the home. A wettable powder formulation complements the spray formulation and can be used for large outdoor applications.

Bird Repellent

Bird Halt from Farnam is an emulsified concentrate that is diluted in water and sprayed on structures to help to eliminate common problems associated with the presence of nuisance birds. The active ingredient is 9,10-Anthraquinone. As birds step on a surface treated with the product, they pick up the powdery residue of Anthraquinone and ingest the product through preening, resulting in a harmless stomachache.

New Boar Lines

Cotswold has two new meat quality (MQ) boar lines. The 925MQ and 950MQ, both meat quality lines, contain a higher percentage of Duroc than other Cotswold male lines. The 925MQ boar is an F1 cross that performs well in disease- and production-challenged herds. The 950MQ exhibits a greater average daily gain than the 925MQ, but both offer increased durability and hardiness. Also new, the 906MG (maximum gain) terminal boar line is bred to exceed current demands for high-lean market hogs.
