Tow & Go
Voss Porkland introduces the Tow & Go cart for removing dead animals. This new tow cart uses a unique arm and cable system that grabs and tightens on a foot or jaw. The winch slowly draws the cart under the carcass until a good balance point over the wheels is reached. Once balanced, the carcass can be easily hauled away.

Production Data System
IQ Scientific Instruments' IQ400 system combines the Handspring Visor PDA with Palm OS and a stainless steel pH probe. The system features touch-screen graphics, pop-up windows and on-screen troubleshooting guides. It also features high/low pH level alerts, recalibration alarms, and save/recall of 9,999 records. A cradle is included so the system can be used as a handheld or benchtop meter.

Information Management
Phason introduces Omni-Enterprise, an information management system for large-scale hog operations. The system gives producers an automated way to collect production data, such as feed, water and ventilation information, from remote Omni-4000 sites into a central location. The information in the database can be used to create graphs and reports as well. Omni-Enterprise also features Job Manager, used to track four job types and capable of providing current job status on request.

New Vaccine
Intervet, Inc. has released Myco Silencer Once, a new single-shot vaccine for the prevention of enzootic pneumonia caused by Mycoplasmal pneumonia. The vaccine, recently FDA-approved, offers a 180-day duration of immunity and has the longest labeled duration available for a one-shot mycoplasma vaccine. The vaccine is appropriate for use in healthy swine three weeks of age or older. The product is available in 50-dose and 250-dose bottles.

Bottle Mount Vaccinator
Prima Tech USA has improved its Bottle Mount Vaccinators (BVMs). Now, instead of refilling the syringe via the needle, the medicine bottle is attached directly to the syringe on a sterile spike that is never contaminated by an animal. No refill or re-entry is ever necessary. Prima Tech says there is also less wasted medicine (as much as 7%) with the new BVMs.

Modular Cast Center
Farmweld introduces a new European-crafted, Modular Cast Center for farrowing crates. The panels are made from a highly durable, non-porous cast material that will not rust. It is poured in an open mold so there are no seams or sharp edges that cause animal injury. Each section is 24 × 42 in., and only two sections are required per crate.

Chromium Patent
Kemin Americas, Inc., received a U.S. Patent for chromium as an animal feed supplement. The patent covers the use of Kemin's propriety KemTrace brand chromium propionate product in swine rations. Chromium propionate provides benefits at points in the pork value chain, including intramuscular fat deposition, reduced moisture levels in muscle tissue, reduced purge and drip loss and improved firmness/wetness of processed meat, according to the company.

Osborne Industries, Inc. has released the Agri-Aide Wind Diverter Kit, a wind pressure-blocking kit. Winds are deflected by the cone-shaped Wind Diverter, which is made from corrosion-resistant RTM-Glas. Hot-dipped galvanized, adjustable brackets and zinc-plated hardware kit make installation simple and adaptable to fit all fan makes.

New McCormick Tractors
McCormick International USA, Inc., has introduced three new series of tractors ranging from 73 hp to 176 hp. The CX series (CX 70, CX 80, CX 90 and CX 100) is available in four different-sized models, with hp ranges from 73 to 102. Three MC series tractors (MC 90, MC 100 and MC 115) range from 90 hp to 115 hp. The McCormick MTX series (MTX 110, MTX 125, MTX 140, MTX 155 and MTX 175) — outfitted with low-emission, turbocharged, 6-cylinder Perkins engines — cover hp ranges from 118 hp to 176 hp.
