Applying the Basics is the theme for the 36th annual meeting of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV), March 5-8, 2005 in Toronto, Canada. “Applying the Basics” is the theme for the 36th annual meeting of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV), March 5-8, 2005 in Toronto, Canada.

The Howard Dunne memorial lecture on “Lifelong Learning: Applying Science in Practice,” will be presented by AASV vice president Scott Dee, DVM, University of Minnesota.

Canadian speakers include Camille Moore, DVM, Quebec City; Laura Batista, DVM, University of Montreal; and Ernest Sanford, DVM, London, Canada.

Other general session topics include porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), biosecurity, immunology, personnel management and grow-finish concerns.

Pre-conference workshops will address a wide variety of health, production and diagnostics issues.
