Hoogland will lead all production areas in this role, including gene transfer centers, multiplication, gilt development, sow production, wean-to-finish operations, research, nutrition, feed services and production well-being.

Hoogland's background includes serving as the vice president of research, nutrition and business innovation at Smithfield Foods. Before moving into the VP role, he was the lead veterinarian for over 12 years and oversaw veterinary services for the Midwest region. He is a distinguished alumnus, having graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2005 and the University of Illinois' Executive Veterinary Program in 2009.

In addition to Hoogland, Terry Tate will join the company as senior director of support operations, overseeing transportation, nutrient management, maintenance and repair, safety and human resources.

Tate's most recent experience includes serving as the senior vice president and director of operations at Murphy Family Ventures, where he managed the swine operation consisting of 150,000 sows, 13,000 wean-to-feeder spaces and 175,000 finishing spaces, along with 2.7 million spaces of contract broiler operations. His expertise extends to leading the land and nutrient management and fleet and facility maintenance divisions.

He holds bachelor's degrees in animal science and agribusiness from the University of Tennessee.

Tate is scheduled to assume his new position on Sept. 5.
