The USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has introduced a new National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program Projects Dashboard. The new dashboard can be found here.

APHIS created this dashboard in response to feedback we heard from stakeholders that they wanted a more efficient way to learn about NADPRP projects. It will also provide accountability and transparency regarding program spending. This new dashboard makes it easy for stakeholders to search for and read about NADPRP projects and then apply the knowledge gained and lessons learned to their own situations. Previously, animal health stakeholders learned about NADPRP-funded projects mostly through word-of-mouth.

APHIS also hopes that the dashboard will encourage communication and idea-sharing among stakeholders with similar interests and foster new ideas for projects that can further advance the nation’s abilities to prevent and prepare for animal disease outbreaks. Sharing NADPRP project information may help potential applicants develop new project ideas that extend or build on what’s been successful.

Congress established the NADPRP in the 2018 Farm Bill. The program allows APHIS to partner with states, Tribes, producer organizations, universities and others to carry out projects that enhance local, regional and national capabilities to prevent, prepare for and respond to animal disease outbreaks. This work is vital to a strong U.S. safeguarding system, a secure food supply, and the continued health of America’s animals. Since 2019, APHIS has provided over $54 million to support nearly 260 projects.

Preventing and preparing for animal disease outbreaks requires an enormous range of expertise and preparedness activities. Since 2020, hundreds of animal health partners have used NADPRP funds to develop effective and innovative approaches to help prevent and prepare for animal disease outbreaks at local, state, regional and national levels.
