Andy Kamm, boar stud manager, started working for Wakefield Pork in 2006. In his role, Andy enjoys having the opportunity to visit with high school and college students about career opportunities within the pork industry. Besides working for WPI, Andy is an assistant coach to his daughter’s softball team during the summer. Andy is also involved in Nicollet County 4-H, where he helps at the beef and dairy shows. Andy also assists 4-H members who may not have the opportunity to exhibit cattle at the fair, by providing them with one! Thank you Andy for all you do!
Cheryl Feinberg is the operations manager at Smithfield Foods’ St. Charles, Ill. facility. Every step Cheryl takes is with a purpose and she embodies Smithfield’s commitment to producing good food in a responsible way. She has been with the company for 39 years, having started as a production worker.

Through their involvement in the industry on state and national levels, the Heimerl Family is well-known within Ohio’s pork industry for their strong family values, superior animal care, environmental stewardship and good community relations. The Heimerls are passionate about sharing their story with the public and advocating for the pork industry through their involvement with the Ohio Pork Council, in addition to Jim Heimerl’s involvement with National Pork Producers Council, where he served as President from 2017-2018.

Jay Shawk joined Hord Family Farms over 17 years ago. While he was first hired to assist with the accounting and feed mill operation at the time of hire, he now holds the role as the director of Risk Management and Nutritional Services. Jay works each day to provide accurate forecasting information and data to help our farm make informed decisions for growth and sustainability.

For farrowing barn manager Mackenzie Otten (left) and her team, working at New Back Forty Farm in New Athens, Ill., is more than a job. Mackenzie truly cares about the gestating and farrowing sows she cares for, and she uses automated technology to manage their feed intake and activity around the clock. Her passion and dedication to the pork industry is unmatched!
Mark Schuelke, has been a boar stud technician for Wakefield Pork since 2010. Mark has served in the Navy for 22 years as a naval air crewman, rescue swimmer and combat search reserve and door gunner. He served multiple deployments from 1988-2010. During his deployment he also served as a classroom instructor and an in-flight instructor. Mark is also an active chairman of St. Gregory’s Administrative Council and Legion Club member. Hord Family Farms
Matt Davis has been with Hords Family Farms for 24 years. While he first started working as additional help to owner, Pat Hord, he has provided value over time to become our chief operating officer for our swine division. Matt’s role is vital to the daily operations and the success of our farms, working with our team and extensive growing partner network.
Sheri and Matt Spindler
Sheri and Matt Spindler both work in the pork industry and are very active in promoting the pork industry! Sheri works for Wakefield Pork as a feed procurement specialist and Matt works for PIC. Sheri and Matt both volunteer their time cooking pork loins, talking with fairgoers at the state fair, and visiting with consumers at oink outings. Besides promoting the pork industry, Matt and Sheri also have two certified therapy dogs that that visit colleges and assisted living facilities for residents to interact with them.

Illinois Pork Producers Association president Pam Janssen is a hard-working mom, grandma and pig farmer. IPPA would like to recognize her for her dedication to our industry and association.
Ricky Flemming has served four years in the United States Marine Corps, where he honed strict discipline and leadership skills. He applies these skills each day as a farm maintenance technician at one of Smithfield Foods’ farms in North Carolina. Ricky approaches each day with tenacity for learning that will undoubtedly lead to a long and fulfilling career in hog production.

Rodney Rowlinson is director of Crop Production for the Hord Family. He has been with our farm for 18 years. He ensures planting and harvest is completed with efficiency every year, and leads his team through each step of the process to ultimately create food for our animals.
Scottie VanDeest, sow farm manager, has worked for Wakefield Pork Inc. for 23 years. In his role, Scottie oversees production, a team of employees and he enjoys having the opportunity to visiting with individuals who are unfamiliar with the pork industry. Scottie also serves as the Lafayette Fire Department Chief. He decided to become a firefighter to help serve the community and give back to others in need. Scottie is also a part of the Nicollet County Pork Producers where he helps at various pork promotion events. Thank you for all that you do Scottie!
