While October is a great opportunity to promote pork, this is also the perfect month to recognize the great men and women who produce the product each day.

“If you eat, you have a connection to a farmer,” says Tim Chancellor, pork producer and president of the Nebraska Pork Producers. “October Pork Month is a time to reestablish that producer-to-consumer relationship. Our mission is to produce safe, nutritious food in a responsible manner, and we need to share how we do that with consumers.  This October cook a ham, slice a marinated loin, make a pork roast, fry some bacon or create a pork surprise for the family and enjoy while talking about everyone involved in producing your meal.”

Whether they are out in the barn each day doing chores and sorting pigs, in the office formulating diets and doing bookwork, on the plant floor overseeing meat processing and quality assurance or on the road advocating for the industry, please join National Hog Farmer as we give a shout out to all of our nation’s pork professionals, including these hard-working pork industry members in our Porktober photo gallery.
