AFIA to feature sow health program at 2019 IPPE

The American Feed Industry Association's nutrition committee is hosting a new program focused on sow health at this year's 2019 International Production & Processing Expo in Atlanta, Ga. Experts will discuss how to maximize a sow's lifetime productivity with nutrition, how to better understand sow health challenges today and how the sow's microbiome may affect her progeny.
The session will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Room A305 at the Georgia World Congress Center and will include the following topics and speakers:
9:30 a.m. From gilt to multiparous sow: high efficiency nutrition for maximal lifetime production, Eric van Heugten, Ph.D., North Carolina State University
10:00 a.m. Understanding sow health challenges in today’s production systems
10:30 a.m. Networking break
11:00 a.m. Mycotoxins: ‘subtle’ catalyst of sow productivity challenges, Trevor Smith, Ph.D., University of Guelph
11:30 a.m. Nutribiosis: nutrition and the gut microbiome interaction on sow and progeny productivity, Crystal Levesque, Ph.D., South Dakota State University
The cost to register is $35 before Jan. 15, 2019, and $55 onsite.
