The new course “Introduction to Immunology and Principles of Vaccination” is designed for individuals working in animal health who want an overview of the immune system and how vaccines work. Individuals watch a series of online video lectures (average of 15 minutes each) and use printed study materials.

“This introductory course should be useful to individuals who work with scientists and want to learn the fundamentals of immunology and vaccinology, including professionals in administration, marketing, sales, legal, human resources, finance and other areas,” says Jim Roth,DVM, and executive director of the Institute for International Cooperation in Animal Biologics (IICAB).“The course also serves as a useful refresher for any professional involved in animal health who wants an update in immunology. Factors that can sometimes lead to problems with vaccine safety and efficacy are also covered.”

“Introduction to Immunology and Principles of Vaccination” is priced at $325 for 60-day access to 18 online video lectures in segments totaling 4.5 hours. Individuals and groups can register for the course at this address, with group rates available for 10 or more participants. The course is approved for seven hours of Continuing Education (CE) credit as approved by RACE (Registry of Approved Continuing Education of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards).

The course was developed by the Institute for International Cooperation in Animal Biologics (IICAB). “We have delivered a longer course for the last 17 years to veterinarians and other professionals needing more in-depth information,” Roth says. “This new course provides a brief overview on the topic.”
