Mike Pearson tells listeners what the Husker Harvest Days has to offer attendees this week in Nebraska.

The cover crop demonstration plot is something new at this Husker Harvest Days.

The cover crop demo plot contains 46 different plots with a mix of species and blends to give farmers a real world look at cover crop management.

The cover crop plots were Installed by Green Cover, a family owned company from Nebraska.

The plot is designed to help producers decide what is best cover crop species for your soil type.

HHD attendees will get to see, touch and smell the cover crops.

The cover crops will answer questions such as what is the best management plan for the cover crops.

The plot will offer attendees a chance to look at summer planting and post harvest planting date cover crops.

The earlier planting of cover crops is for crops harvested in the early summer and then the post harvest planting date is for visitors to examine cover crops for after corn and soybeans.

Guided tours will be offered of the cover crop plots.

The tours start at 11 a.m. The goal is to show producers how to maximize grazing in cover crops with some species and with other species to boost soil health.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Mike Pearson, farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
