Mike Pearson takes a look at the solar storms that lit up the sky this spring.

While, the view of the Northern Lights was amazing, they brought modern agriculture to a halt.

The solar storms created problems by stopping the GPS signal hurting the farmer's bottom line.

As GPS networks froze, farmers were shut down as the systems froze.

The likelihood of more solar storms remains high that it will happen again and farmers are urged to plan ahead.

Farmers are encouraged to pay attention to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) so they know what is ahead.

With the sun entering the most active phase, chances are high there will be GPS problems ahead.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Mike Pearson, farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
