Practicing veterinarians, researchers and academics who have focused their research on infectious respiratory disease in pigs are encouraged to apply for an opportunity to win one of three $35,000 awards.

Awards for Advancing Research in Respiratory Disease, sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim, has provided $1.2 million since 2002 for research into some of the industry’s most pressing questions about the diagnosis, control and management of porcine respiratory infectious diseases.

Proposals may relate to:

  • Porcine circovirus Type 2 (PCV2)

  • Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae

  • Influenza A virus in swine (IAV-S)

  • Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome

“Research propels our industry forward by creating innovative, field-applicable solutions to problems facing producers and veterinarians,” says Reid Philips, DVM, PRRS technical manager, Boehringer Ingelheim. “We are proud to support this effort and excited to see new ideas that help swine operations reach their full potential.”

The deadline to apply is Jan. 15, 2019. The Respiratory Disease Research Board, made up of seven independent swine veterinarians and researchers, will review applications. Visit www.swineresearchawards.com to learn more.
