Part 1

In a special episode, Best of This Week in Agribusiness, Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong look back at some of the highlights of the previous year. Max Armstrong’s trip to New Zealand has him talking about the state of the dairy industry at two farms. Tim Recker, Arlington, Iowa, talks about taking the plunge and converting from tillage to cover crops.

Part 2

Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong visit with Derick Dahlen, Villa Bellezza Winery, and talk to him about his winery, as well as growing grapes in a cold climate. Orion Samuelson talks with John Duarte, Duarte Nursery, Inc., about legal problems involving wetlands.

Part 3

Orion Samuelson visits with Dale Drendel, Lindale Holsteins, who educates consumers with first hand experience on what actually takes place on a dairy farm. Bill Lenschow, Chairman, Breakfast on the Farm, also seeks to educate people by inviting the community to a breakfast. Kristin Decker reports on an early 1960’s 600 Case that is still in action.

Part 4

Orion Samuelson goes through the process that the FFA goes through every year to barbeque beef for a special event in Yavapai county, Arizona. The Farm Challenge of the Week is tackled by Devon Liss, Product Manager, Trimble. Steve Bridge reports at the Farm Progress Show, where the American Welding Society shows a possible future career to high schoolers in a unique way. 

Part 5

Janell Aust reports on a wildfire that raced through south-central Kansas, and talks to farmers who dealt with the fire first hand. David Johnson, Deerhead, Kansas, tells the story of how his family and neighbors saved most of their ranch.

Part 6

Orion Samuelson profiles Plymouth-Shiloh FFA in Plymouth, Ohio, this 62-member group benefits the community in a variety of ways, from feeding farmers in the field at harvest, to creating new bleachers for their school’s stadium.

Part 7

Max Armstrong talks with Natalie Baker, D.V.M., Boonville, Indiana, about what it’s like being a veterinarian for livestock. Tracy Mueller, Communication Manager, Monsanto, talks about why Monsanto’s “Farm Mom of the Year,” is so important. Mary Courtney, Farm Mom of the Year, talks about some of her experience on the farm.
