It may not seem like it from the headlines of the week but the railroads that pass through our region are improving their safety record. The rail administration says there’s been a steady reduction in accidents.
Those corn yields per acre just keep on climbing. The results of the national corn yield contest have top yields above 500 bushels per acre. The national average yield is 175. The top yield is from state of Virginia. From Pioneer seed corn.
The Japanese automakers employ tens of thousands in the United States. That plant south of Princeton employs 5,500 and there are tens of support jobs in the region. Toyota invested $600 million in this community, announced addition of 400 new jobs and they work hard at being good neighbors. Its employees have given 22,000 hours of community service.
