We’re starting to pay closer attention to the Weekly Drought Monitor. Part of west central Illinois is still dry along with area of Missouri. Drought lingers on in parts of Texas and Oklahoma. Folks there need to remain vigilant for possibility of fast-spreading range fires.
The planned markup of the farm bill is being delayed. There are disagreements about nutrition title. About 80% of farm bill spending is on nutrition spending. This sounds familiar for those of us who have covered farm bills before.
It’s quite likely farmers will have face-to-face meetings with lawmakers next week. It’s certainly on their mind.
He will be in Washington next week for National Agriculture Day. He’s moderating program at National Press Club.
