The things that we have that constantly need charging need to be considered during a winter storm. In the case of an ice storm, it can take several days or even weeks to restore power. One friend shared he became very adept at cooking with a welding torch when it took three weeks to restore power after an ice storm.
Don't forget carbon monoxide and its potential to kill if operated in an enclosed space.
A 1/4 inch of ice adds something like 500 pounds to weight of a power line. No wonder lines fall and poles snap.
And then there are the falls. For a nimble 12-year-old it's fun, but for his 81-year-old granddad, that fall could be fatal.
