Max Armstrong explores the use of prescribed burns and how it can improve the land

March 25, 2021

Max Armstrong explores the idea of controlled or prescribed burns designed to put nutrients back into the soil and revitalize farmland. At the end of the growing season plants leave dead material on top of the ground, which is of little use. That fire can turn that dead material into valuable nutrients. Max explores how fire can be used to boost soil health. And he shares an update on research on the use of the practice.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Max Armstrong, veteran farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
