Max Armstrong reports on what drove major farm protests in the Netherlands recently.

July 6, 2022

Max Armstrong looks at farm protests in the Netherlands focused on programs to slash emission of pollutants which could drastically cut livestock production. The move aims to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxide and ammonia by 50% nationwide by 2030. The Ministers call the proposal an ‘unavoidable’ transition, and they told farmers they’ll have to act to cut their emissions or end production. There have been court rulings that blocked infrastructure improvements too. Max shares 40,000 farmers took their protests to the highways.

Max Armstrong's Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Max Armstrong, veteran farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
