Pork Give-Away Targets Iowa Families in Need

The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) will be partnering with Iowa Select Farms to provide nearly 2,000 lb. of pork loins to those in need. The pork give-away will take place during a special broadcast of WHO Radio’s “Van & Bonnie Show” on Friday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 9 a.m. at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

The event will take place near WHO Radio’s Crystal Studios, located along the Grand Concourse on the fairgrounds. The 4.5-lb. loins are being donated by the Deb and Jeff Hansen/Iowa Select Farms Foundation. The contribution is part of the 110,000 lb. of fresh pork the Hansen family is donating to food banks and community pantries this holiday season.

While the fresh pork loins are available to anyone who asks, the sponsors encourage those most in need to take advantage of this tremendous gift.  Loins will be distributed as long as supplies last. Once the 2,000 pork loins are gone, IPPA will give out coupons for $10 off a purchase of pork.
