The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) has announced the entertainment for MusicFest, the social event of World Pork Expo from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 9.
Expo attendees can enjoy roasted pork and refreshments while listening to music renditions performed by Highway 101, Papa Doo Run Run and the Retro Rockets at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, IA.
“Not only does World Pork Expo create the perfect place for producers to view new products and technologies, and learn about industry issues, but it also offers MusicFest to allow producers and exhibitors to interact in a fun, relaxing atmosphere,” says Doug Fricke, director of trade show marketing for NPPC. “Whether people prefer country or rock ‘n’ roll music, they’ll enjoy listening to these bands.”
Highway 101 is a Grammy Awards nominee that blends country roots with rock ‘n’ roll energy in performing chart-topping hits like “Somewhere Tonight,” “Cry, Cry, Cry” and “Who’s Lonely Now.” The band has twice been named Vocal Group of the Year by both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.
Best known for its classic hit, “Be True to Your School,” Papa Doo Run Run specializes in performing music from the mid-‘60s to mid-‘70s. This Grammy-nominated group has entertained audiences with its surfer sound as Disneyland’s celebrity house band for 15 years, while on tour with Jan & Dean, and now at World Pork Expo.
The Retro Rockets also specialize in performing classic rock ‘n’ roll, offering up songs made famous by artists ranging from The Beatles to Aretha Franklin.
World Pork Expo, the world’s largest pork-specific trade show, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 8 and June 9, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 10. The breeding stock sales will continue on June 11 from 8 a.m. until they are completed at approximately noon.
