Ohio dairy farmers share nutrient management video

Ohio dairy farmers are riding the wave of trying to connect with the consuming public by inviting the public to meet the state’s dairy farmers.

The website, www.ohiodairyfarmers.com, uses a variety of methods to introduce dairy farmers to the public and the old adage of showing is better than telling is true as the website features a slew of videos in four separate areas of interest: farm family, environment, animal care and milk safety.

Under the “environment” section, “The Scoop on (Cow) Poop” video explains to viewers that, yes, cows do create an awful lot of manure, but dairy producers need to fully utilize the cows’ droppings as the valuable resource that it is.

The 3-minute, 35-second video shows what dairy producers do to handle the manure from their operations to benefit the environment.
