Wendell Murphy Honored by North Carolina Chamber

Each year at the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting, the organization bestows the Corning Award for Distinguished Citizenship and the Award for Distinguished Public Service to individuals who have made significant contributions to North Carolina's economy and to the life of the state.

During the Chamber's 2013 annual meeting held last week in Greensboro, pork producer Wendell H. Murphy was honored with the Award for Distinguished Citizenship.

Murphy is the previous chairman and CEO of Murphy Farms and a former state senator.

Joining Wendell and his wife, Linda, for the distinguished award ceremony were several family members and associates including their children, Dell and Wendy Murphy and Kelly and Wendy Murphy Crumpler, and grandchildren, Regan Murphy, Harley Crumpler and John Wesley Hairr.
