Universities Create Antibiotics Task Force

A “Task Force on Antibiotics Resistance in Production Agriculture” has been created by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities and the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges. The task force will help advise the federal government on a research agenda and publicly disseminate information on the use of antibiotics in production agriculture.

The task force will be chaired by Lonnie King, dean of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, with Robert Easter, president of the University of Illinois serving as co-chair. The task force will include representatives of U.S. agriculture colleges/land-grant universities, veterinary colleges, pharmaceutical industry, production and agriculture community.
