Sens. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) have informed the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) of their strong concerns regarding China rejecting U.S. export shipments of dried distillers grains (DDGs) that contain traces of a U.S. approved trait. The senators along with 17 of their colleagues wrote USTR Michael Froman urging him to work with China to restore trade as quickly as possible and to “develop a more-consistent set of rules” governing the trade of new crop technologies between the United States and China. China was the top export market for U.S. DDGs in 2013 with a value of $1.6 billion.
