The Maschhoffs LLC has acquired a pod of sow farms, nursery and finishing space, a feed mill and a truck wash near Albin, Wyo., in the southeast part of the state. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The addition of these sow farms, which have a total capacity of 13,500 animals, brings The Maschhoffs’ total size to 195,000 sows. Wyoming becomes the seventh state in which The Maschhoffs has a presence. “This purchase supports our operating strategy in the western portion of our system,” says Bradley Wolter, president of The Maschhoffs. “In addition, these farms will benefit from the support of our Regional team in Arapahoe, Neb., while further diversifying our risk from disease given the remote location.”

Ken Maschhoff, co-owner and chairman of the Board, notes that these farms support the company’s customer focus. “Our vision is to deliver the best customer service possible to our packer customers,” Maschhoff says. “With this pod of sow farms, we are making a strategic investment in ensuring our supply chain delivers maximum value to the customers in our western footprint.”
