The House and Senate agriculture committees will have new chairmen starting in January with the 114th Congress. Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) will serve as chairman of the Senate agriculture committee with Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) as ranking member of the committee. Roberts will be the first person to have chaired both the House and Senate agriculture committees. Roberts served as chairman of the House agriculture committee from January 1995 to January 1997.
Congressman Mike Conaway (R-TX) will be the new chairman of the House agriculture committee with Congressman Collin Peterson (D-MN) continuing as ranking member of the committee. Current committee chairman Frank Lucas (R-OK) was term limited under the rules of the House Republican caucus.
