The USDA is reminding farmers that they have until June 1 to certify conservation compliance to be able to remain eligible for crop insurance premium support. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack said this deadline will not be extended.
“This is a hard and fast deadline because if we extend beyond that we are in a situation where it may impact adversely the issuance of crop insurance,” Vilsack says.
