President Obama signed H.R. 719, a stopgap spending bill that will keep the federal government operating until Dec. 11. Negotiations between Republican and Democratic Congressional leaders and the administration are now taking place to try and find a way for a government-wide spending bill for Fiscal Year 2016 that would fund the government until Sept. 30 of next year.
Congress is also going to have to deal with a number of other critical issues including a highway bill by the end of October, a debt-ceiling bill in November and tax extenders by the end of the year.
