FDA Inspection of High-Risk Food Facilities

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says in FY 2011-12 it inspected 85% of the domestic high-risk food facilities.  FDA identified 22,325 domestic food firms as high-risk of which 19,030 or 85% were inspected.  The goal of FDA is to inspect all high-risk facilities by the end of FY 2013.  The issue of inspection of high-risk facilities was an issue during the debate of the Food Safety Modernization Act that was enacted in 2011.
