Mike Taylor, deputy commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration for Food and Veterinary Medicine is leaving FDA as of June 1. Taylor has been responsible for the FDA’s implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act and was instrumental in FDA’s removal of antibiotics for growth promotion.
In the 1990s, Taylor was the USDA’s acting undersecretary for Food Safety and the administrator of the Food Safety and Inspection Service when the USDA modernized food safety requirements by implementing the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point.
