Fast Genetics hires Bachmeier as account manager

Laura Bachmeier has been appointed as account manager for Fast Genetics in the Kansas City area. She is originally from Apple Valley, Minn., where she grew up actively raising and showing swine and beef cattle. Her family operates multiple farms, growing diversified crops and beef cattle throughout Minnesota and North Dakota.

Prior to joining Fast Genetics, Bachmeier was the director of Pork Safety and Quality at the National Pork Board. In this role, she was the technical support expert and liaison for the Pork Checkoff's pork safety and quality efforts, where she developed educational resources and research programs in the areas of pre- and post-harvest food safety and pork quality for pork producers.

In 2016, Bachmeier earned her Master of Science degree in Meat Science and Muscle Biology from North Dakota State University as a graduate research and teaching assistant under the direction of David Newman. While earning her Master of Science degree, she was the president of the Animal Science graduate student organization and assisted professors in the Animal Science Department on swine research projects and teaching undergraduate courses.

In 2014, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Agricultural Business from NDSU. During this time, she interned with various pork production companies. University organizations she was involved with include Sigma Alpha Professional Agriculture Sorority, Saddle and Sirloin, General Livestock Judging Team, Colligate Cattlewomen and was a member of the National Junior Swine Association.

Furthermore, Bachmeier is a professional member of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians, American Meat Science Association, American Society of Animal Science, American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists and the U.S. Animal Health Association.
