Every Friday, hundreds of boxes of groceries are handed out at the Faith Temple Food Giveaway in Sioux Falls, S.D. Faith Temple, operated by Pastor Jeff Hayes and Faith Temple Church, has been serving the Sioux Falls community for 11 years. The need for groups like Faith Temple has never been greater; however, food pantries across the country are finding themselves running short of product, especially protein.

That is exactly what Pastor Hayes ran into this week as he was preparing for his usual Friday distribution and was unable to secure a protein option. This week his prayers were answered by a random phone call reaching out to Pastor Hayes.

"Right place, right time would be an understatement," says Sylvia Wolters, Public Relations director for Pipestone who reached out to Pastor Hayes. "We are so thankful to be able to give back. Not only for those battling food insecurities during this challenging time, but also in support of our local pig farmers."

Pipestone arranged for 10 pounds of pork to go with each family's box, totaling a 7,000-pound donation. Every visitor was able to have pork loin, pork tenderloin and ground pork as well as some pork recipes to try at home. Pork was donated by Pipestone with contributions from WholeStone Farms and SAM Nutrition.

Pipestone has been serving their mission of Helping Farmers Today Create the Farms of Tomorrow since 1942. Pipestone helps pig farmers by providing resources and expertise in pig health, nutrition, management, marketing and business services.
