The new antibiotic use rules are here. The Jan. 1, 2017, clock has struck, and U.S. livestock producers are now subject to the revised Food and Drug Administration’s Veterinary Feed Directive. Despite the continuous coverage of VFD and the massive educational outreach, some livestock producers still did not get the memo or are finding it is not so smooth to purchase feed-grade or water-based antibiotics.
