In a few short weeks, thousands will be converging on Des Moines, Iowa, for the 2017 rendition of World Pork Expo, the world’s largest pork industry-specific trade show.
Actually, about 20,000 hog producers and swine professionals from around the world are expected to gather to share their passion for the swine industry June 7-9 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
National Pork Producers Council brings you World Pork Expo, but just like it takes a village to raise a child, a lot of swine-related entities help bring this annual show to the masses. National Hog Farmer is here to help you plan your trip to World Pork Expo, to get the most benefit.
Our May issue offers a guide to World Pork Expo, including a listing of the New Product Tour brought to you by National Hog Farmer. This year 31 products have been nominated for the New Product Tour. Take a look at the nominees, and feel free to cast your vote for the “producer’s choice” new product. You can either vote online, or stop by the National Hog Farmer booth V625 in the Varied Industries Building once you get to Des Moines. All voting automatically are entered in a drawing for an Amazon gift card.
During the show, an esteemed panel of four judges will meet with vendors of the new product nominees to discuss the merits of the particular products. Judges’ reviews of the top products will be featured in the July issue of National Hog Farmer.
In addition to the 440 companies showing their wares on over 320,000 square feet of exhibit area, World Pork Expo also offers a full slate of seminars offering producers a multitude of educational opportunities. To be sure that you don’t miss a thing, download the free mobile app that will help you plan your World Pork Expo visit. This app, brought to you by National Hog Farmer and the NPPC/World Pork Expo, is available for download by going to the Apple or Android stores and searching for “World Pork Expo 2017.” This app will keep you up-to-date on all the latest show happenings, plus interactive maps, show listings, schedules and activity locations, just to mention a few of the app’s offerings.
To take a break from learning and checking out what companies have to offer the swine industry, take a stroll over to the swine barn where 3,800 pigs and youth will combine for premiere hog shows, educational programs and judging contests will take place June 5-10.
Leading up to and during the show, keep in touch with the happenings by following World Pork Expo on Twitter using #WPX17 as well as checking out the WPX Facebook page.
