An innovation-focused company that has served as both a pioneer and leader in the science-driven advancement of feed technology for the global agricultural industry has achieved a major milestone in its remarkable history.

Canadian Bio-Systems Inc. based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada recently marked 35 years in business, celebrating a legacy that includes unique status as a world leader in enzyme technology and a driver of ongoing innovation across bio-based feed technology. The science-driven company founded in 1984 by Owen Jones passes the milestone during an exciting time of expansion for CBS Inc. and its growing team, fuelled by broadening global opportunities and its new Feed Science Platforms.

“We are very pleased to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Canadian Bio-Systems,” says Jones, CBS Inc. founder and president. “It has been an outstanding journey working alongside our many long-standing partners, team members and customers who are part of the Canadian Bio-Systems family and share in our success. At the same time, it’s clear the best is still ahead. In many ways, we are just getting started. We look forward to continuing to expand our next generation team and relationships, while striving to meet the challenges of tomorrow.”

A critical foundation of the success of CBS Inc. is a core focus on science. Since its inception, the company has benefitted from a strong integrated relationship with major research programs. This has included most notably the program led by internationally recognized novel feed technology researcher Bogdan Slominski, based at the University of Manitoba, who has served as scientific director and overseen a research program that has delivered a wealth of robust science underlying CBS Inc. innovations.

As the CBS Inc. base of knowledge, expertise and solutions has expanded, so too have the company’s core research partnerships across Canada and beyond. The company has also expanded its technology, marketing and distribution partnerships worldwide including in the United States, Asia Pacific, Europe and in numerous additional emerging markets.

“As we look to the future, the original vision and science-focused approach of Canadian Bio-Systems has never been more relevant or important,” says Krisjan Jones, CBS Inc. operations director. “It’s a tremendous time of evolution in agriculture and related sectors around the world. We are excited to continue to champion science-driven solutions that support the success of farmers, industry and the complete, increasingly diverse range of CBS Inc. customers.”

Leading the company’s next generation is its newly revamped and expanded portfolio of flagship feed technology solutions — the CBS Inc. Feed Science Platforms.

The FSPs offer a comprehensive range of advanced bio-based feed technology solutions to benefit swine, poultry, aquaculture and ruminant production, including five areas of feed technology innovation: multi-carbohydrase enzyme technology, enhanced yeast technology, grain management technology, functional fatty acids and phytogenetics and probiotics.

The FSPs are backed by a process to determine “What’s your FSP fingerprint” — a new approach to advanced precision livestock feeding that helps individual operations identify how they can best integrate and capture synergies among different types of feed technology.

“As CBS Inc. celebrates our 35th Anniversary, over the remainder of the year on our website, social media and other communications channels we will be showcasing many of the key scientific and business developments that have taken shape over our history,” says Jones. “This will include perspectives from many of our team members and partners who have been part of the journey. Watch our website, CanadianBio.com, and follow us on social media for the latest information.”
