MSD Animal Health opens submissions for the 2018 High Quality Pork Ph.D. Award, through which one recently graduated doctoral student will present their research at the 2018 MSD Animal Health High Quality Pork Congresses in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
2017 High Quality Pork Ph.D. Award winner Andreia Arruda encourages young scientists to apply: “It was a pleasure and immense honor to receive this award. Being able to present my research and interact with a large group of swine specialists allowed me to learn more about this global industry. I enjoyed discussing a topic that I have been devoted to and am extremely passionate about, and was able to identify opportunities for collaborations at the initial stages of my career.”
Eligible candidates must have completed doctoral research for an applied project in either veterinary or animal science with an emphasis on swine and defended their doctoral degree in the past 12 months. Topics of interest include antibiotic reduction, welfare, precision medicine, infectious diseases such as porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus, porcine circovirus, Lawsonia and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and reproductive management. Candidate needs to be available to travel and present their research in the first quarter of 2018 in Asia; third quarter of 2018 in the Americas; and the fourth quarter of next year in Europe. All trip expenses and an honorarium will be paid.
