An Iowa City, Iowa,-based agtech startup has entered into an exclusive product representation agreement with Ag Environmental Resources. A well-established product representation company specializing in the design and delivery of ventilation, heating and cooling systems that optimize the living environment of barn-raised livestock, AER will now be selling and distributing FarrPro’s flagship Haven product.
“We are introducing a new product into a market where swine producers have used cheap, highly inefficient and sometimes deadly heat lamps to keep pigs warm for decades,” says Chris Hanson, FarrPro co-founder and vice president of business development. “As a startup company we decided it makes more sense to team up with an established, reputable strategic partner that is already operating in the swine industry and one that can scale sales rapidly. AER met all of those requirements and more.”
The agreement between the companies gives AER the exclusive right to sell FarrPro’s Haven product in the 48 contiguous United States.
FarrPro focuses on creating innovative, energy-efficient solutions for livestock producers who want to increase profits by improving the health, welfare and quality of life of their animals. Haven creates an energy-efficient microclimate along the creep wall of a farrowing crate that keeps piglets warm, safe and healthy. The result is an optimized environment for piglet growth and sow comfort.
“We are excited to have been chosen to represent FarrPro’s Haven product and for being given the opportunity to offer it to our clients,” says Jonathan Chalupa, managing partner of AER. “Our purpose as a company is to create systems for our producer clients that best fit their needs while making sure they are set up to be successful now and well into the future. The FarrPro Haven is a truly innovative solution to an age-old problem. Our company only represents top-tier products and the FarrPro Haven certainly meets that standard. We look forward to sharing this incredible heating solution with swine producers across the country.”
Earlier this year, Farrpo successfully completed and closed an investment seed round with Iowa-based Grinnell Mutual, the largest primary reinsurer of farm mutual companies in North America, as lead investor. FarrPro continues to add to its team as it prepares to scale for sales and distribution going into 2019 and will be exhibiting their Haven unit at the South Dakota Pork Show, the Iowa Pork Congress, the Illinois Pork Expo and the Minnesota Pork Congress.
