This year presentations will address the theme, “Built to Last: Celebrating 50 Years of Progress.”

The American Association of Swine Veterinarians will still hold its Annual Meeting in Atlanta March 7-10. As the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is rapidly evolving, AASV is following guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and will continue to monitor for any changes in recommendations

AASV says attendee health is important and to use everyday precautions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, influenza, and other infectious diseases:

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Get an annual influenza vaccine as recommended by the CDC.

AASV also says even though attendees may be happy to see colleagues, this year's AASV Annual Meeting is a no-handshake zone. Please refrain from shaking hands (forearm bumps are good substitutes).

The Hyatt Regency in Atlanta is also taking disease prevention seriously. International attendance at this year's annual meeting is greatly reduced.
