Flourishing new possibilities

Springtime often blooms new possibilities and a renewed focus. As I step into the editor role at National Hog Farmer, my center of attention will now be on the pork business and providing valuable information for pork producers.

As a ninth-generation farmer, I have always been passionate about agriculture and willing to share the scientific, practical story of the industry.

Growing up in central Illinois, I have had the wonderful opportunity to get my hands dirty and explore the world of agriculture.

My broad agriculture experience stands on a strong foundation of diverse livestock production, grain production and numerous hours on the job at the family local grain elevator and feed mill.

In 2013, I joined the Feedstuffs editorial team, bringing more than 12 years of experience in agricultural communications, working with a variety of agricultural organizations and companies.

During my time spent on the Feedstuffs’ team, I have had the privilege to cover the pork industry and keeping close tabs on the hog market.

Personally, I have admired the innovative spirit of the pork community and the "rolling-up your sleeves" attitude.

Realizing not every day can be filled with bacon roses, Kevin and I will channel that same pioneering outlook for the betterment of the pork business and to serve you, our readers.

Your thoughts and perspective about the issues, events or the pork industry in general are always welcomed.  Please feel free to send me an email at [email protected]
