Jack in the Box, Inc. announced late last week that it will be moving to eliminate gestation stall use from the company’s supply chain within ten years. The San Diego-based company consists of more than 2,200 Jack in the Box restaurants and 576 Qdoba Mexican Grill restaurants.

The company recently updated its Animal Welfare Report and outlines expectations for pork suppliers to move to group-housing environments. Read the Animal Welfare Report here.

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) trumpets the announcement on its  Web site. The Jack in the Box announcement joins similar gestation stall stances recently issued by McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Oscar Mayer, Costco, Safeway and Kroger.
