Knowing your surroundings is essential to properly managing your hog operation, and Manitoba producers are encouraged to participate in the Manitoba Coordinated Disease Response, an online information sharing portal developed by Manitoba Pork.

This portal offers timely disease information, including disease status, disease maps and biosecurity information to help assist producers manage their operations. To participate in the MCDR, producers are asked to sign a confidentiality agreement with Manitoba Pork to share their disease information and have access to others. Participants are given a username and password by Manitoba Pork to access the portal. The MCDR is secure on the Manitoba Pork website and access is only granted to those with a signed agreement.

Manitoba Pork is encouraging all producers to participate in the MCDR, as the initiative expands across the province and will include information on both porcine epidemic diarrhea virus and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome.

For more information, contact Jenelle Hamblin, Manitoba Pork’s manager of Swine Health Programs, at 204-235-4442.
