During the 2021 Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA) virtual annual meeting, Alan Kollmann of Altamont, was elected to serve as president for the coming year.

Alan has served in the officer rotation for the past three years, holding all titles. He has also been active on the State Fair, Production Tech/Research, and committee chair for Education and Youth.

He is a third-generation farmer from Effingham County. On the farm, he has a 1,000-head feeder-to-finish contract barn, 40 show pig sows, and a small grain farm consisting of corn and soybeans.

Alan and his wife, Michelle, have been married for 21 years. They have three sons, Jared, Eric, Justin, and a daughter, Jenna.

Alan stays active in his community by being a member of St. Clave Catholic Church where he serves as the chairman of their Pastoral Council and PSR director. He also serves on the Altamont Unit 10 School Board and Altamont Sports Boosters.

A benefit of his IPPA membership is staying in touch with state and national regulations that affect his day-to-day business. The learning opportunities and networking are also valuable to him through this organization.

In his acceptance speech he shared, “I am humbled and honored to serve as President of this association for the coming year. I enjoy visiting and brainstorming with fellow producers. I want to be the voice for the countryside in Springfield and spread awareness of the quality protein that we have to offer.”

IPPA delegates also voted on the following officer team for the 2021 year: Thomas Titus of Elkhart as president-elect, Chad Leman of Eureka for vice president-treasurer and Cheryl Walsh of Princeville as secretary.
