From building human capital on the farm to optimizing returns from the finishing facility, the Indiana Pork Producers Association has planned a wide range of topics for this year’s Midwest Pork Conference.

Held Dec. 4 at the Hendricks County Conference Complex in Danville, Ind., the one-day event includes nine educational sessions on topics such as managing disease on the farm, reducing sow mortality rates, serving as an agvocate and an economic update. This year the keynote session, sponsored by Farm Credit Mid-America, will feature a presentation by Eric Williams. Williams will be speaking on gene editing and the positive impact it can have on the swine industry.

Each year the Midwest Pork Conference brings more than 300 independent pork producers, farm managers, contract growers and allied industry leaders to the educational and networking event.

“The committee has put together a fantastic lineup of speakers this year for Midwest Pork Conference,” says Stephanie Morris, director of producer outreach for Indiana Pork. “There really is something for everyone whether you are an owner, manager or employee.”

The event also includes a tradeshow and multiple opportunities to network throughout the day. The cost to attend is $80 for the first registrant from a farm or company and $60 for each registrant thereafter from the same farm or company. Various sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are also available.
