Team Purebred Announces Junior Program Changes for 2012


Team Purebred, the junior membership program of the Berkshire, Chester White, Spots and Poland Chinas, is excited to sponsor the first ever 10-breed barrow show on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, during the annual National Summer Junior Show in Springfield, IL.  In addition to the four breeds represented in Team Purebred membership, members are also invited to bring Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Yorkshire and, new this year, Hereford and Tamworth barrows farrowed Dec.1, 2011 or later.  Details are available at: .

Also new in 2012, Supreme Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion Gilt awards will be presented at the World Pork Expo, June 5-8 in Des Moines, IA, and the National Summer Junior Show in Springfield, IL.

Team Purebred is also accepting applications for a summer intern position to help with show preparation, execution and posting of results.  Applications are available at the Team Purebred Web site and must be postmarked by Feb. 1, 2012. Team Purebred is the junior organization for young enthusiasts of Berkshires, Chester Whites, Spots and Poland Chinas. Based in Peoria, IL, Team Purebred offers leadership opportunities and scholarship activities to young members from 46 states.  Free membership is offered for all youth through 21 years of age.  A nine member Junior Board of Directors organizes and administers 12 national and regional events annually.
