National Hot Dog Month Celebrated in Washington, D.C.
July is National Hot Dog Month.

Over 1,000 Congressional members and staff, agricultural representatives, and members of the media recently celebrated July as National Hot Dog Month on Capitol Hill.  The National Hot Dog lunch was co-hosted by Congressmen Frank Lucas (R-OK) and Collin Peterson (D-MN) and sponsored by the American Meat Institute.

To show the strong connection between hot dogs and baseball, three former baseball players attended – Lou Brock, Hall of Famer for the St. Louis Cardinals; Chris Chambliss who played for the Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, and Atlanta Braves; and Jim Sundberg who played for the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals.  This annual luncheon is one of the most popular events on Capitol Hill.
