Manure and landscape can be combined into an on-farm composting business, creating another revenue stream for livestock farms.
That topic will be the focus of a tour sponsored in part by the University of Illinois Agroecology/Sustainable Agriculture Program.
The tour is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 20 at Mike and Pat Dumoulin’s hog farm in Hampshire, IL.
The field day will start with explaining how to do composting and nutrient management. After lunch, there will be a tour of the Dumolin farm’s composting site and equipment demonstrations.
