Fly control is a hit with New Product Tour judges

An esteemed panel of judges chose eight products as finalists from the World Pork Expo New Product Tour.

Flies are a big issue around any farmyard, and it is imperative to keep those populations down, especially since the pests have been attributed to the spread of diseases. Flynexx, from Piedmont Animal Health, is a larvicidal product for the control of houseflies, stable flies and soldier flies. It can be used as a granular sprinkle or mixed with water to spray.

Judge Pat Thome liked the residual coverage the product provides. Kevin Thorne, Piedmont director of farm animal business, says the product should be applied once every 30 days. If the product is sprayed, 1 pound of granules mixed with 1 gallon of water will cover 200 square feet.

Judge Gary Anderson questions if the product would work around a rendering box. Thorne says Flynexx can be used around rendering boxes as long as larvae are present.
