A walk through the show grounds for the 2018 World Pork Expo a day before the event would surprise a visitor on opening day. The place does not look ready; yet when the gates open on Wednesday, June 6, exhibitors will be in their best bib and tucker.

National Hog Farmer walked around the site during final prep – carrying a camera – to capture a behind-the-scenes look at the big show. What we found is people working hard, and having a little fun, getting ready to talk with customers who will come from around the world for the event.

There's no mistaking the scent of window cleaner for the many monitors in exhibits; or the aroma of Armor All, a multi-purpose tool that makes tires shine on equipment. Along with those scents were the sounds of construction, from outdoor buildings being erected from scratch to indoor exhibits that to some probably look like impossible-to-build puzzles.

So browse the images we share from the 2018 show, and when you visit this week, check out the finished product. We're sure you'll find plenty of information, and new tools, for your operation.

The World Pork Expo runs June 6-8 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. You can learn more at worldpork.org.
