Updated Handbook Outlines Iowa Regulations

The Iowa Livestock Environmental Regulations handbook aims to keep livestock producers informed about current environmental regulations. Handbook chapters discussing manure management regulations and construction requirements have been updated and posted to the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) Web site. More chapters will be added as they are completed.

“We strive to keep farmers educated and up to date on current regulations and to help them comply. This resource helps us do just that,” says Tyler Bettin, IPPA producer education director. “Producers are always welcome to call our office for personal assistance and questions regarding their operation.”

The original creation of the handbook was sponsored by IPPA, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Dairy Products Association, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Iowa Poultry Association, Iowa Soybean Association and the Iowa Turkey Federation.

Bettin reminds handbook readers that information in the handbook is based on laws and regulations in effect at the time of publication. Producers are advised to stay informed of changes in these laws and to contact any of the sponsoring organizations for further information.

For more information, visit the IPPA web site at www.iowapork.org. Contact IPPA at (800) 372-7675 or email [email protected].
